Taiji (popularly known as Tai Chi) is a system of exercises that open your body and mind from the inside out. This gives us the experience of more freedom in movement, thinking and being. And that feels great! The longer we practice Taiji, we feel more vital and fresh!
Dance: Free movement and expression, without the ‘need’ to do our best … anything goes. With music let the natural wisdom of our bodies take over, and dance freely with intuitive movement where your body becomes your guide and teacher.
The combination of Taiji and Dance is a deep, powerful, but also playful way to open your body, get mental clarity, to let go of emotions and experience your life energy fully!
“Tai Chi Dance classes are the perfect mix between Basic Tai Chi exercises and exciting and relaxing dance. Lessons are all too short! Would not mind if they lasted hours and hours! Alison is a very inspiring teacher.” Beppie
What is Tai Chi Dance?:
Tai Chi DANCE is a new concept that I have developed with my husband Paul. The inspiration is from years of passion for all different kinds of dance forms and what it can bring to your life as well as a deep respect and passion for Tai Chi.
Some people have high moments, or a sense of contact with ‘everything’, or inner peace, if you look at the sunset, or in the eyes of a baby. I’ve have that also, but many of my peak moments were on the dance floor … Where I can surrender to the point where I became one with everything.
Tai Chi has also brought much for me. By attending regular Tai Chi classes I corrected a bend in my neck vertebrae (from poor posture from too much computer work) as a result I am 2cm taller!
I also teach Tai Chi classes and I notice that sometimes people find it difficult to get away from that tendency to ‘try too hard to do it right’ and that can create bodily and mental tension. My wish with Tai Chi DANCE is to give the opportunity to experience the power and depth of Tai Chi and with playfulness and curiosity of dance.
Our Grandmaster Dr. Shen Hongxun spoke about the importance of dancing and in Tai Chi DANCE, Tai Chi and breathing exercises are combined with inspiring music, free expressive movement and meditation.

A Tai Chi DANCE Lesson:
We begin each Tai Chi lesson with a Tai Chi standing exercise, to get back into the body, to correct your posture, and to relax the back. In the dance lesson we start the lesson the same, using music to deepen the natural opening of the body.
Then we then practice a few Tai Chi / Qi Gong or breathing exercises. Then we add the music during the exercise and gradually let the music and the natural wisdom of your body take over, until you arrive in a free and intuitive dance where your body becomes your guide and teacher.
In the last part of the lesson is a lying down meditation, where we come back to rest in ourselves.
During all Tai Chi exercises you get personal tips and feedback.
No experience in Tai Chi or dance required.
The Music
The music is important to create certain atmosphere or opening, so every week we have different ‘playlists’ that can inspire your body mind and soul!

What Tai Chi DANCE is not:
Tai Chi DANCE is NOT the Tai Chi Form. The From is a series of Tai Chi postures practiced together in a kind of dance. It is the famous picture of Tai Chi of old Chinese people practicing in the park.
If you want to learn the Tai Chi Form from our system, we also offer Tai Chi Form workshops throughout the year. check our website for more information
